The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again.

Last week we felt it was premature to herald the coming of Spring, but today it seems a bit more realistic. It’s only a scant month away from our first scheduled event at the showgrounds, that being the T-Sled Test and Tune day on April 22. I know we have seen them canceled because of snow in the past, but we have also seen some glorious 70 degree days. With all of that as a backdrop, we offer the following piece from the archives that always comes to mind at this time of year. Remember, no matter how many setbacks we endure, nothing is as inevitable as Spring. I’ll further search for a photo or two that seem to fit the moment, and see if we can’t get the campground turf wars off to a good start for this year as well.

VERNAL EQUINOX
by Frank Young
The Season is Spring, and it's certain to bring
A long dormant smile to our face
Time to sit back, and perhaps let the rat
Win a lap or two of the race
To shed Winter's fat, and swing a new bat
At the ball like you did as a boy
To smell of the grass, as you make the first pass
With your shiny new lawn mowing toy
To dream like a kid, of the things that you did
When you "wore a younger man's clothes"
To savor the hour, and the scent of a flower
As it tickles the end of your nose
To dig in the earth, and help it give birth
To things that grow in a garden
In the sun you can bask, and you don't have to ask
For any permission or pardon
Or maybe skip work, a Springtime perk
That your bosses will surely ignore
Because they feel it too, or you hope that they do
We all need time to restore
Life is too short, to have to abort
A moment like this in the sun
It not only warms you, it nearly transforms you
And all too soon it is done
