The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. STALKERS

Some things just have to wait until November. Deer Season, Turkey Day, and Corn Husking, would be a few examples. For those of us who seek entertainment outside the realm of college football, a sunny Saturday in November seems just perfect for Roger Birchmeier’s Annual “Old Time Days are Back” neighborhood corn husking bee.

Although the members of the MMOGTA pride themselves in including many types of vintage harvesting demonstrations in our August Show, Mother Nature just isn’t quite done with the corn crop at that time of the year. “To every thing, there is a season”, you know, so the corn binder, husker, wagons and sheller just have to languish in the shed until the season is right. Thanks to Roger and Tim Birchmeier and their friends and neighbors, we still get the opportunity to witness the whole process, just as it might have been done 50 years ago on farms across the Nation.

The crisp, blue skies and moderate temperatures gave a beautiful setting for the event, and those involved know that November weather is often less kind to those who work in the fields. The heat from a wood fire nearby provided a welcome “hand-warming” station in the chill of the earlier part of the day, and the noon hour brought a huge feast in the tool shed to add that internal warmth for the dozens of workers and visitors who happened by.

We thank all who were involved in the operation for their efforts, and we leave you with a few photo memories below.
